New Trustees
We have been successful
in our search for new trustees, one
of whom has also become treasurer.
Mark Hazard, who is originally from the
North East of England but who has lived in Swanland for
several years, has been elected as a trustee and as treasurer
of the charity. Mark takes over from John White who has
retired as a trustee and treasurer having served in this
capacity since the village hall opened in 2004. Mark is
a Chartered Management Accountant and his knowledge and
experience will be of considerable value to the Management
Committee.
Jan Rogerson has also been elected as a
trustee. Jan, who has lived in the village for many years,
is a well-known local personality. She recently stepped
down as chairman of the Swanland Village Association and
is involved in several other village activities including
being one of the principal organisers of the Swanland Festival.
Her knowledge and experience will be very welcome to the
Management Committee. |

Swanland Library signs new 21
year lease from Village Hall
The future of the public library
in Swanland is assured following the signing of a new lease
from Swanland Village Hall. Despite the cuts in costs being
made by local authorities, the future of the public library
located in Swanland Village Hall is assured following the signing,
of a new lease for the continued use of part of the village
hall premises by The East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
The new lease, which commenced on 26 January 2012, is for a
longer period of time than the previous lease and shows the
on-going commitment of The East Riding of Yorkshire Council
to the provision of library services in the village. The signing
of the new lease follows the recent signing of a new lease from
Swanland Parish Council to the charity which runs Swanland Village
Hall. The original lease of the 'hall, granted in 2005, was
for a period of 7 years. The new lease, which is for 21 years,
demonstrates the confidence of Swanland Parish Council in the
trustees of Swanland Village Hall who will now be able to continue
to provide the excellent facilities of the village hall to the
residents of Swanland.
